Similarly, turn down the ringer on your phone so that it does not disturb others in public places. Put your phone on vibrate if you are going to be in a church, doctor’s office waiting room or other place that hearing a ringing telephone would be distracting. Make sure that your ringtone is non-offensive if you do not have your phone on a silent mode.

The device, developed by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), uses electromyography, monitoring tiny muscular movements that occur when we speak and converting them into electrical pulses that can then be turned into speech, without a sound uttered.
"We currently use electrodes which are glued to the skin. In the future, such electrodes might for example by incorporated into cellphones," said Michael Wand, from the KIT.

Il dispositivo, sviluppato dalla Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), utilizza l’elettromiografia per monitorare i piccoli movimenti muscolari che avvengono quando si parla e li trasforma in impulsi elettrici che possono poi essere modulati in parole.
Michael Wand del gruppo dei ricercatori del KIT, ha detto:
"Al momento il dispositivo funziona con l’uso degli elettrodi poggiati sulla pelle. In futuro tali elettrodi potrebbero essere incorporati nei telefoni cellulari.
La nuova tecnologia apre la strada a una serie d’applicazioni per aiutare le persone che hanno perso la voce a causa di malattie o infortuni; può anche trasformare l’utente in un poliglotta perché gli impulsi elettrici possono essere immediatamente trasformati in una lingua scelta dall’utente".
